Mr Romney, an immaculately coiffed and coutured 60-year old with a beguiling smile and a dreamy look, is a kind of Dorian Gray figure. The Mormon in the attic
Amid the forests of reportage on the US primaries there remains the odd journalistic gem, a flash of inspiration that has somehow survived the relentless trudge from one state to the next. Here is the excellent Gerard Baker explaining the sense of disquiet I feel whenever I see Mitt Romney:
